Google Finance!

Google Finance - Peak Day Blues

Finally, there's some competition for Yahoo Finance! Yes, it has been a one source destination for many a finance freaks like me for years and has been doing a good job too.... Now, Google, which obviously is a direct competitor of Yahoo, has come up with Google Finance!

I tried my hands on it for a few minutes, and the first impression is that of awe and admiration. Though it is not radically different from Yahoo Finance, it does have its own USPs.

You key in a ticker in the search box, for eg: INTC (intel), you will be taken to a page where the real-time charts of Intel and the latest news will be there on the left and right side. Moving down, you can see Company Summary, Company Facts, Company Financials, Related Companies, More Resources, Management, "Blogs", and Discussions!

In the Management section, by doing a mouse over, you can actually see the company executives image. The blog section covers insider data about a company written by the employees or independent bloggers.

All in all, a superb initiative from Google and am sure they will be kicking in more moolah into this one project!

Thanks Google for making my professional life a little easy!

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!! Thanks to this Wikipedia link , forwarded to me by Vinay
