You guys would have already read about the controversial remarks Mr. Chappel has made about Ganguly... I am outraged, not because of my likeness towards Ganguly, but because a person who is in a responsible position shouldn't be bragging so much.
From what I know, Sourav Ganguly is coming from an affluent Bengali business family and he is filthy rich!!
And Mr. Chappel, who is bragging about Ganguly's finances, is staying at the posh Taj West End Hotel in Bangalore with his wife!
[Chappel stays in this 5 star hotel]
Imagine this, he has a contract till 2007, and he will b staying in a 5 star hotel till then!!

Sample these:
"I helped him with his batting then, so maybe he thought I would be his mate and support him now. Certainly there is no way I would have got the job here without his influence. I'm sure he thought he would be able to run me as he did John in the latter part of his time as coach. But we clashed because his needs as a struggling player and captain and those of the team were different."
"in essence I told Sourav that if he wanted to save his career he should consider giving up the captaincy. He was just hanging in there. Modest innings were draining him. He had no energy to give to the team, which was helping neither him nor us. It was in his own interest to give himself mind space to work on his batting so that it could be resurrected. He was not prepared to do that. What I didn't realise at that stage was how utterly important to his life and finances being captain was."
As an Indian, I don't understand the logic behind BCCI keeping him as the coach anymore. He is a servant who is paid to serve Indian cricket and hence should respect Indian cricketers and Indians (remember the famous finger showing incidence?)
PS: I am writing this in total outrage, so "maaf karo" for the language used! ;-)

ReplyDeleteI accept what u say. I did not read the full writing, but I go with you for the last few sentences. He is paid for it and he should abide by the master's (Indians).

Except for the sentence "What I didn't realise at that stage was how utterly important to his life and finances being captain was." whatever Greg said the other day was absolutely correct and there was nothing wrong in it.
