The Ministry of Information in India has banned music TV channels from playing what it calls "sleazy songs" and has also come up with a bizzare punishment of scrolling a message - "We have violated the Programme Code. We will be more careful in future" according to this report.
This is atrocious! We pride ourselves in being the biggest democracy in the world, but the government is still living in the Neanderthal age! Come on man, a guy who wants to see sleaze has got so many "places" (read Internet) to go check out. Does the government think that by banning it on TV, the purpose is served??
As a citizen, it's up to him/her to choose what they want to see or don't want to see! Talk of freedom of expression, dhat teri ki!
PS: MTV, Channel V, B4U, Balle Balle, MTV, iTV and MH1 are the ones who are forced to have a scrolling message like a punishment of sorts!
