Peak Day Blues' Octagon Series - Valencia Vs. Juventus!

In the second match of Day 2, Valencia took on Juventus. Juventus won the toss and elected to field. Antony and Rajesh opened the batting for Valencia. Before Rajesh could register a score, because of a bad call from Antony, was run out. Antony was in his best elements, flying all over the field ;-) He even disrupted the match in between by sitting in the middle of the ground! Juventus worked together as a team in the field, but they had too many extras under their scalp which helped up the Valencia score. At one point in time, Extras was the highest scorer.

Juventus in return started off well, but some tight bowling from Valencia brought their run rate down. It was a very tight match with each passing ball turning the match upside down. Valencia ran out of their regular bowlers towards the end of their innings and had to resort to irregular bowlers and this proved to be the turning point of the match.

The match went into a frenzy, when in the last over, Ajith, the captain of the Juventus had to retire because of the rule book that says no batsmen can hit more than 20 runs. 5 balls were remaining and they were 3 runs away from victory. But Valencia couldn't utilize this opportunity for a win and gave awary runs by way of extras. Finally, Juventus won this thriller!

Here's how the scores look:

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!!
