The Infy Saga!

Last Friday, Infosys announced its record quarterly results for the "Nth" time and obviously Mr. Narayana Murthy is elated. Infosys gave away a huge bonus to its stakeholders also in the way of an extended 1:1 bonus dividend. Btw, Infosys is also celebrating its 25th anniversary.

With all these celebrations, there was a special interview in CNBC with Mr. Murthy this weekend. Was happy that I could watch it as it had loads of wisdom from this great man.

When asked what you think are the five key factors of your sucess, Mr. Murthy said:

1. Clients - they give us the food, they are our annadatas.

2. Employees - without our employees, we couldn't have achieved anything.

3. Vendors - they play a key role in our growth.

4. Business Practices - Infy has a well defined corporate governance strategy and has NEVER missed their earnings guidance.

5. Ethics - Infy conducts all its businesses with the best of ethics and honor. They claim to have not greased a single government hand (which is hard to believe btw)

Some of you might argue that any guy can come up with such "management" insights, but coming from a man who has been there and done it, it's always special!

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!! Thanks to this Wikipedia link , forwarded to me by Vinay
