Semi Final #1

In the first semi final of the Octagon Series, Real Madrid took on Manchester United. Real Madrid won the toss and elected to field. Raja and Pradeep opened the innings for Manchester United. Both of them got out early with cheap scores, but Patrick and Vinoth who followed them played well with each scoring more than 15 runs. Vinoth got run out and Bala followed him, who had a blistering knock at the field. To the angst of everyone, Real Madrid gave away 22 valuable runs as extras! At the end of the first innings, thanks to some "extras", Manchester United had accumulated a whopping 77 runs in 8 overs.

Manchester United had a dream start in the second innings, when they got out the openers of Real Madrid for ducks! Johnson and Arunprasad steadied the innings, with some blisterning knock by Johnson towards the end, but it was too late. With just 9 extras in the scalp, Manchester United gave away only 61 runs and won this thriller of a match!

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!! Thanks to this Wikipedia link , forwarded to me by Vinay
