Semi Final #2

In the second semi-final of the Octagon Series, Chelsea took on Juventus. Chelsea won the toss and elected to field first.

This match saw both the teams making huge scores and was the highest scoring game of the series. Manohar and Nithin opened the innings for Juventus. Manohar got out early with 9 runs. Peter and Nithin really started hitting hard and had the opposition in doldrums. Both of them scored 20s and remained not out. Ajith and Murali chipped in towards the end of the innings with valuable scores of 5 and 14 respectively. If the first semi was won/lost because of "extras", this match also was no different. There were 11 extras in one over! Chelsea was very generous and gave away 21 runs via extras. At the end of the innings, Juventus amassed a huge total of 91 runs.

Chelsea didn't lose heart and batted with a vengeance in the second innings. If Chelsea gave away 21 runs, Juventus gave 16 runs by way of extras. Juby and Sashi started the innings, but Sashi got out soon because of a run out. Rajiv, Vijay, Raghuram, Boby followed. Arun and Suresh both scored crucial 14 runs respectively and Juby top scored with 16 runs.

In the end, Chelsea fell short of 10 runs and Juventus won this knock-out of a match!

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!! Thanks to this Wikipedia link , forwarded to me by Vinay
