Why is he the boss?

It's something you need to add in your 101 Things To Do Before I Die list, coz it's not quite often that you can experience such adulation for a man who has become a legend in his own rights... Yes, Rajni - he is a phenom and you need to experience his almost magnetic presence on and off screen... They say you are a true fan of his only if you go watch his First Day First Show! You don't believe me? Then watch the below slide show to realize that he is The Boss! PS: Thx for my sis-in-law for fwd-ng the mail all the way from US ;-) Cross posted in Cinema Paradise

Radio Turmoil!

As usual when i tuned into to listen to my favorite jazz station in Yahoo Launchcast, I was welcome with this screen... Apparently, the US Congress has imposed drastic increase in Royalty rates for webcasters by a recent ruling and is due to go into effect on July 15. Webcasters across the country are observing a national Day of Silence today (June 26). This day of silence is observed in a number of ways, including dedicating entire programs to the campaign to save Internet Radio and broadcasting complete silence. Mobile Recharge!

Way back in 2005, I had blogged about Hutch's great strategy in introducing Rs. 10 prepaid coupons... Read that here Then I had sincerely wished for other mobile co's to follow suit. Last week when I was standing in a medical shop which also sells recharge coupons, nearly 5 to 6 people came to buy Rs. 10 top up coupons of Airtel, Aircel and others in a window of 5 minutes!... I was running low on my talktime and thought of buying a 10 Rs. coupon to see how it works. For Rs. 10, you will get 7.50/- as talktime, which I think is worth. The lowest Recharge card (with 1 month validity) available for Airtel is for Rs. 200 and you will hardly get Rs.45 talktime in it. Then an idea struck me.... why not take a Lifetime Validity option after paying 1000 bucks or so, wherein your mobile will always receive calls and you can top up with values of your choice whenever you want... no need for costly recharge coupons with validity... Hows the idea??

Remix!

During our JLT @ Farmhouse a few weekends back, the fun committee had organized a small competition. People were split into teams and each were given a nursery rhyme. What do they have to do?? Simple, sing it in a different melody a.k.a remix it with a popular song's tune. The team had a sudden burst of creative energy and the results were superb... here's for you to see it for yourself! PS: Sorry for the delay. Was searching for a software to compile all these into a single video, but couldn't get a good one, though Ulead was okay!

JLT @ Farmhouse!

This quarter's JLT Party happened last weekend at our CEO's farmhouse in a village called Kurumbapalayam, Coimbatore. The Farmhouse was in the wilderness of a typical village with greenery all around. We had a DJ at our disposal who played rocking music and had a great brunch. Head over here to view all the pixels shot over there.

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!! Thanks to this Wikipedia link , forwarded to me by Vinay

Worship at home!

Apparently, non-Muslims are not allowed to practice their religion in public in Saudi Arabia. I didn't knew this before and only this article made me realize it. Whoof, never knew that such practices still exist in the world! I've nothing against any religion, but typecasting in the name of religion is a crime.... Long live secular India! I love India!

Jew Town, Cochin

When we visited Cochin last time, my wife wanted to go to Jew Town in Mattanchery along with her friends to do some shopping. She says a few things (read: decorative art materials!) are very unique there, which is not available elsewhere. So, as my wife was busy burning my pocket, I went trigger happy and shot a few images of this historic place. The antique shops showcasing Jewish remnants of Cochin were a treat to watch, though everything was very costly! Click here to check out the full set!!
