KGHirotec Engineering Services Private Limited, a joint venture company of KG Information System Private Limited and Hirotec America, plans to establish a manufacturing facility here shortly to make tooling used to make car doors (closures). According to Ranganathan Padmanabhan, its general manager (business development), and Senthil Parthasarathy, vice-president (business development), the company will initially invest about $ 2 million. It will identify vendors to supply the components and will do only the assembling here.
KGISL started its automotive engineering services support operations to Hirotec America, one of the group companies of Japan-based Hirotec in 2001 and formed the joint venture - KGHirotec - in 2005. A new office of the joint venture company was opened here on Tuesday. Mr. Padmanabhan and Mr. Parthasarathy said that KGHirotec was so far catering to the engineering design needs of mainly the group companies. Now, it would look at global operations. The Coimbatore centre aimed at achieving annual business of $10 million only through its design services by 2010.
Masato Uno, President of the Hirotec Group, said this would be the global engineering centre for Hirotec and the total employee strength was expected to go up to 250 by 2010 from the current 85. Some of the services offered by the company here were hemming systems development, customisation of CAD tools and hemming and stamping dies.
