Tiger in prowl again!

Sourav Ganguly is back with a bang! Ousted from the Indian team due to bad form and under pressure to perform in the Duleep trophy for East Zone, Ganguly hit back with an entertaining 117 which included 18 boundaries and a six off just 143 balls. It was Indian captains toughest test and he passed with flying colours. Now Chappell has a big problem on his hands, should he take Ganguly after the first ODI if India lose or should he wait and watch.

Ganguly showed no signs of a recent elbow injury. His innings finally ended when he edged a catch off leg-spinner Amit Mishra to the wicket-keeper. Ganguly would now be gunning for his place in Team India in the ODI series against Lanka.

Chappell too has a big problem on his hands. After his spat with Ganguly earlier and his insistence on Ganguly proving his form and fitness, Chappell will have to give Ganguly his due. If Ganguly plays in the third ODI and scores there as well then captaincy will not be very far. Sourav has fired a shot from Rajkot, Chappell has definitely heard it in Bangalore.

  1. Ganguly should not be judged through one match and that too in domestic tournament which are played in flat pitches and where quickies get little assistance. It again vindicates the stand that most of the Indian players play long innings in domestic tournament but seldom play a long innings (except Dravid, Tendulkar and to some extent Sehwag)in international tournaments. Ganguly should sort out his weakness in batting, should hone his leadership skills and communicate better with team members, where again Chappell plays an important role.

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!!
