iRishta

Adding to the already cluttered Matrimonial websites in India, here's a new one offering free membership profiles for everyone.
Shaadi.com, indiamatrimony.com, jeevansathi.com are some of the famous sites already in business.

The launch of iRishta.com is significant because unlike existing free matrimonial sites, iRishta.com offers a full range of features and services. The new matrimonial website aims to take a major market share away from existing paid matrimonial sites.
In an opening salvo fired at the leading matrimonial sites, an iRishta.com spokesperson said, “They have continued to raise their membership prices, while offering little additional value to their customers. We think that once Indians realize that there is a viable alternative to paying for what amounts to little more than a high priced messaging service, they will abandon these paid sites and migrate to free matrimonial sites like iRishta.com. The combination of high end features and no membership fees offer an unbeatable value to our members. We believe that unless the paid sites change their strategy, our business model will make these high priced matrimonial sites unattractive to members and lead to these sites’ eventual decline.”

As to the best of my knowledge, Matrimony and Job sites are the hottest properties in Indian Internet space at the present time. Though job sites are here to stay, I doubt if people really flock to these so called matrimonial sites and register.

Comments

  1. Just to clarify irishta.com is very different from shaadi or jeevansathi memebers have to pay to send messages to other members this is not the case with irishta.com. Another major difference is irishat is the only site that offers a fress chat service powered by userplane which is offered by no other matrimonial site out there.

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!! Thanks to this Wikipedia link , forwarded to me by Vinay
