Economics of Smoking Ban!

Kudos to Mr. RamDOSE for bringing about the much needed change that we were all looking for! From October 2, it's a full blanket ban on Smoking at all places!

Now, I know a lot of you support and oppose it. Ah, don't bother about my opinion! Let's come to the economics behind this...

All the "petty" shops in and around Saravanampatti (where I live & work) which sell Ciggies were closed today or were banned from selling ciggies. The tea shop owners have already started complaining that their Tea/Snack sales have gone down (as people usually tend to smoke when they go for a tea)!

But I've just one simple question.. Why not ban ITC from making Ciggies in India?? And when Ciggies are not available, people will automatically transform to other forms, a.k.a dopes (be it hash, gang, or grass). And no one will dare dope in public! See, that's what you call "one stone and two birds"... Are you listening Mr. Dose?

PS: What you read above was just frustration from a smoker. Please ignore it at your own risk ;-) And I've tagged this post under "Valentine's Day"

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!!
