Daniel J. Kohl has been named president and chief executive officer of Spheris, one of the US' largest providers of medical transcription technology and services. He will also join Spheris’ board of directors.
Kohl succeeds Steven Simpson, who will remain on the board of directors after leaving his management post on Jan. 17.
Kohl brings 20 years of executive management experience in health care-related industries. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Pediatric Services of America Inc., which provides pediatric private duty nursing and day treatment center services.
Spheris serves more than 500 hospitals, health systems and medical group practices with clinical documentation services. It employs about 5,000 transcriptionists who work remotely using a proprietary Web-based platform.
PS: Spheris has a significant presence in Coimbatore with almost 500 plus employees.
