A study by the Centre for Science and Environment, an NGO, has claimed that bottled soft drinks contain deadly pesticides. Soft drink giants Coca-Cola and PepsiCo have, however, refuted the findings and are contemplating legal action against the NGO.
But the government has already banned supplies of soft drinks to the Parliament. And in a recent move, the SC has asked Coke & Pepsi to put pesticide-warning labels.
Should these soft drinks be banned totally? Would you still buy soft drinks?
Well, here's what Peak Day czars think!!
PS: I've stopped drinking it ever since the pesticide report came up. The reason I used to take it was simply to "show off", to prove that am very much an American Guy trapped in this part of the world!! Woosh, this controversy really opened up my eyes and proved that blind faith in everything "western" is not necessarily good for your "health" and "wallet"....
For those who can't live without having refreshments, why not we try out our age-old sambarams (diluted form of kattimore and is prepared by adding water, salt, green ginger and chilies) or coconut water!! Time for a change!!
Any by the way, thanks guys for participating!!

RC, I think Sambaram is an Malayalee word. You could have put it up as butter milk, so that everyone can understand.

Thank you well wisher for correcting me.
ReplyDeleteI was under the presumption that Sambaram is a word used across all South Indian languages....
I have also noticed that it is widely available in Kerala under the Milma brand name, especially in this Sabarimala Season...but havn't noticed it in the Tamil Nadu market.
Hoping to find it in Coimbatore too...
