The BPO arm of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has forayed into the knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) industry in India, offering analytics and research along with their BPO offerings.
The company has tied up with a market research firm to deliver knowledge process services through Chennai and Mumbai centers and nearly around 125 people are employed in carrying out these activities. Delivering KPO services is an extension of the business process management services carried by the company and TCS would continue to focus on both the services in India.
The global KPO market is expected to touch $ 17 billion by 2010, of which nearly $ 12 billion work would be outsourced to India thus providing employment to over 2.5 lakh people. Currently, the domestic KPO market employs around 25,000 professionals, he added.
