Kodaikanal Trip - Day 1 - Part 2

Continuation from previous Kodai Post

So, we reached our resort by afternoon and before we checked in and had our lunch, we all assembled in the car parking area.

We had formed a Fun Committee which was in charge of all the fun during the trip beforehand and all the fun committee members immediately sprang up with their ideas.

They had asked us to fill up a questionnaire when we were in the bus which contained questions like, "How would you propose your girlfriend", "What would you take with you if you are going to moon" etc. Needless to say, we all had given cranky answers and they started reading it one by one (btw this "torture" for the kind hearted souls continued till the trip was over").

The Fun Committee split us into teams and for each activity we were given points. They also announced that at the end of the trip, the teams with highest points will be given gifts! We had a "nice" rivalry between the teams. I was part of the Tsunami team which was leading in points till "matching fixing" occured ;-)

After lunch that day, at around 3 PM, we went to the nearby Kodai lake which was in the heart of the city.

There were people boating, cycling, horse riding etc. We initially thought that the whole team will go for boating together, but because of the rush since it was a Saturday, we were given free time till 5:30 PM to do what we want.

So, myself and folks decided to try the harder route by hiking in a cycle! And it will not be enough if we say that we thought it's going to be a jolly ride. We kept on cyccling, cycling, cycling, but never reached the point from where we started. After an hour of hard labor, we finally reached the place from where we hired the cycles. Only then we knew that we had cycled 5 kms!!

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!! Thanks to this Wikipedia link , forwarded to me by Vinay
