We started off to Kodai from our office campus at around 5:30 and had our breakfast at Udumalpet by around 8. The usual gaana songs were on full throttle in the video coach bus and the dance tempo only increased after the breakfast. We stopped at a small but clean vegetarian hotel for breakfast. We had idlis, vadai, coffee and pongal. I had never had a chance to eat pongal in life before and it was delicious, albeit a little hot.
[Half asleep team at 5:00 in the morning]
[Annathe... Kondadu... Dancing started ASAP the bus took off]
On the way, we saw huge Wind Mills spread throughout the country side. I had read in Hindu a few months back about this new business which is helping farmers earn some quick bucks by renting out their places. Most of these are run by Suzlon. There were so many winmills that we lost count.
I have never been to Palani before and hence the sight of the great Palani Hills where Lord Murugan is idolised was a pleasant site.
[Palani temple from a distance]
By around 11 or so, we reached a place called Melpallam, 38-kms after Palani, where we had a brief stop over for ciggies and coffee. I believe this was the plateau before we started climbing the hills.
Just before reaching the Kodai town, we stopped over at a place which has a small but beautifully stretched waterfall called.... oops, forgot its name... pls remind the name folks... So, here's some pics taken over there. Update: It's Silver Cascade!
I believe we reached Kodaikanal by afternoon and after checking into our respective cottages, we all headed for lunch.
More on the trip later....
PS: As you guys know, I only have a dial-up connection at home and it's really slow. So, won't be able to update much photos from home. Will go to a browsing center as soon as time permits and will upload all those chunks of videos and photos....
