A senior Dell executive said today that Dell Inc. plans to build up its presence in India.
"India is the fastest growing market in Asia Pacific and from that standpoint its a very critical market for Dell," said Paul-Henri Ferrand, vice president & general manager for South Asia at Dell Asia Pte. Ltd.
Dell's Indian subsidiary, Dell India Pvt. Ltd., that sells computers and servers among other products, has two sales and customer support offices in India.
It recently set up a third office - a business process outsourcing unit - in the north Indian city of Chandigarh.
Ferrand didn't give specific details of the company's future plans for India but said business is growing at 43% year on year.
"We are a pretty independent organization and as we are growing in terms of business, we will be adding the necessary headcount and resources," he said.
