Is Ganguly good enough??

As most of you know, Ganguly was recently banned from playing TWO test matches for violating the ICC code of conduct on over rates in the recently concluded BCCI Platinum Jubilee Match against Pakistan.

Needless to say, Ganguly is the most successful captain India has ever seen, but his form in the recent years especially after becoming the captain of India is pathetic. One can say that if he was not the Captain, he won't be in the Indian Team.

At the same time, Rahul Dravid as a batsman has improved tenfolds in the recent past, gaining respect from all corners of the cricketing world.

So, the question is whether Ganguly is fit to be the Indian Captain or should Mr. Consistent be given a chance?? Or should we again consider Sachin, since recent media reports have stated that Sachin wishes to don the Captain's cap before retiring.

Well, here's what Peak Day Guyz think!!

Is Ganguly a good Captain

  1. Rahul has certainly done well whenever he has taken up the hot seat on an ad-hoc basis. And he certainly has all the ingredients of a Captain.

But, look at our "Dada" - he is a fine "TEAM man". I don't think anyone can argue about his one-day batting abilities as an opener. He could have always pushed Viru or Sachin down the order and retained his place at the top, but he didn't do it. He sacrificed his place for the Team's cause! So I don't agree with the view that he will not find a place in the Team if he is not the Captain. He is very much a dependable, delightful opening batsman in ODIs! Remember, he is like an Imran Khan to Pakistan - he has brought lot of youngsters like Yuvuraj, Bhajji, Kaif, Pathan to the forefront. He deserves to be continued in ODIs.

Test Cricket, maybe we can go for Dravid!!

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!!
