Chappell my foot!!

Mr. Greg *Chappall* (means footwear in indian language), for your kind information, showing Indian cricket fans your "middle finger" and thinking you might escape our ire is just your imagination....

God save Indian cricket!!

Comments

  1. May God Save the Indian Cricket.

    Venue: Eden Gardens, Kolkata
Event: A shameful India Vs. South Africa ODI Match.

Kapil dev Slammed down the Kolkatans for protests against the non-inclusion of Sourav Ganguly in the national squad, asking them to put the country before their state.
"Why did you not protest about Anil Kumble (who was excluded in the one-day squad) not playing? Don't you feel bad? It's the same thing. The time Kolkata people feel bad about Anil Kumble, then I will feel bad about him (Ganguly's exclusion). When they feel bad about (V.V.S.) Laxman, then I will feel about Sourav Ganguly," he said at an interaction here, arranged by GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare.

"Because India comes first, then the state; You cannot think about your state and not think about your country. Country is much more bigger," Kapil said.

Shame shame ... kolkatans.. really... shameful

  2. Every one is joining the bandwagon in denouncing Greg Chappell for “fingering”. I have hardly come across anyone denouncing the behaviour of the Kolkata crowd. This parochialism , just because Sourav was n’t in , does not speak good about our being patriotic and “ Indian”. This is not the first time Eden Gardens and Kolkata crowds have behaved in this deplorable manner . Several incidents leading to stoppages, cancellations and burning stands is fresh in the minds of sports lovers. It is this boorish behaviour that first needs to be denounced .
As for Greg, while he should not have done , what he did, it was an outburst of a natural emotion initiated and provoked by the crowd . How do expect a tiger to show the character of a cow ? Kolkata crowd was cheering SA , was okay ? Its a ignominy for West Bengal. If you are Indian , feel for India.
I am from Karnataka , so I will stage a rasta roka with my alumni , next time a match is held in Bangalore if Kumble is not in. My wife is from Hyderabad and she says she will collect hundreds and do a padayatra in favour of Laxman, marching to Kiran More’s house while my mother who loves Parthiv Patel says she will do bhook hartal if he is not in !!

  3. Channage Helidiya Nitya! While what Chappel did cannot be condoned, the boorish behaviour of Kolkata public has been totslly ignored by the people & media alike. Its high time the sentimental Kolkattans realize that Dada has outlived his usefullness in the One day team(NOT TESTS!). All the currently axed players (Dada, Zaheer, Nehra & VVS) are lousy fielders and a liability to the one day team. Agreed, they may be very good batsmen/bowlers, but in ODIs its the runs u save on the field or the catches u CREATE that r more important than the runs u make or the wickets u take. So many times has a match has been turned on its head by a brilliant run out or an outstanding catch even though the bowling has been mediocre. I totally support Chappell in this view that fielding comes first, TALENT BE DAMNED ! Whats the use of talent if u cant hold on to catches or save a few runs on the field? From ages, we have been a far superior team TALENTWISE compared to all others but we have been consistently losing to even Zimbabwe!

  4. India is bigger than Sourav or Bengal.

  5. Rahul Dravid's batting average of 156.00 during the seven-match series against Sri Lanka is the best by any captain in a series of five matches or more.

  6. Boycott Eden Garden. The Kolkata public deserves this.

When a home crowd supports and cheers a visiting team then it’s a sign of good sporting spirit. But this cannot be said of the Kolkatians (read Saurav’s fans) who were jeering and ridiculing the Indian team and cheering the SA team. This was their way of venting up their pent up anger for exclusion of Ganguly from the Indian ODI team. This is the same public who in the past used to throw stones & bottles towards the opposite team members and obstruct the proceedings whenever India was about to lose a match. But it were the selectors who ousted Ganguly so they are the ones who should be questioned by the Kolkata public and not the Indian team. The behaviour of Ganguly fans has brought shame to our country. And this anti-national behaviour also reeks of parochialism. They should learn something from the well-behaved public Bangalore public who did not do such thing even though Kumble was not included in the team. The crowd hooliganism at Eden Gardens is getting worse by the day. It’s time that the BCCI avoids Eden Garden as the venue for any international match. Having said this, it was wrong of Chappel to make an indecent gesture no matter what the provocation. But no one is talking about the crowd’s bad behaviour.

  9. Shame shame. It happens only in India. The moment v c the bright white-skinned dashes, v just start praising them. I am not supporting the Kolkata crowd at all, but Mr. Nityanand, it was an outburst of a natural emotion!!!! So, u r supporting those rapists as well who rape a woman because they somewhat felt charged up emotionally, just an emotional outburst? Then why v need a civilized society? That is also those white-skinned monkeys claim that they r the most sophisticated ones in this world. What happens to the players who go to those countries, have u ever noticed how are they welcomed? do u remember when Indian team went there how they were harrassed in the name of civilization? I am damn sure that u wouldn't have given such a big lecture if it would have been some x, y, z from third world countried. Please, at least now come out from the mentality of praising those people. u know one thing, this s the basic prob with Indians. v r very busy to prove the other regions r wrong and only our region is best, and others r taking advantage of that. British came through the Southern region only na? now only I cud understand how that happened? still v r carrying the same mentality. without supporting Kolkatans, i m strongly opposing Chappal's reaction as he was indicating to Indian crowd and no one else? can he do the same with Australians?

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!!
