Domestic violence!

Thanks to Renuka Chowdhary's (Minister for Women and Child Development) Diwali Gift, the feminine gender can now cause more pains to us poor souls. My dear wife forwarded me this news link with a wry smile on her face which details the so called domestic crimes that husbands/men incur upon their wives/women!

But only us poor souls know the torture we are being subject to on a daily basis. Law must change! There should be punishment for crimes committed against men by women also.

These are some form of violence committed by women/wives against men/husbands

1. Making you an R&D hub for their cooking endeavors
2. Not letting you eat sweets
3. Wiping off your salary within 2 days
4. Forcing you to use your credit card after your salary is wiped off
5. Not letting you sleep
6. Accusing you for no reason
7. Repeatedly asking you to tell that you still love them
8. Snatching the TV remote when you are watching all that important cricket match.
9. Asking you to help in cooking!
10.Towing you along to their relatives place!

There are many many unclassified domestic violences... Oh Lord, show some mercy on us!

Why don't one such Act be passed for violence against women in workplace?

I left a dignified job jus 'coz of one such act. Many women to maintain their dignity don't speak it out. But their monetary necessity makes them bury all these deep in their mines of their heart or rather makes them forget it 'coz it affects their work, or it could be like they have learnt to digest such instances and take precautionary measures.

    But she always suffers ...

So they either stay calm or quit the place Reasons they state may be B to U, W, X, Y, Z. But Not A- Abuse; and V - violence.

  4. Very sorry to hear that u had to leave a job for such reasons. But I would have wished you scaling it up to higher authorities and teach the perpetrator a lesson or two, so that others won't repeat such offences again

  5. Thank you but don't feel pity for this but use your tool effectively to do something about this if you can...

    and by the way....

What to do if one among them was the higher authority himself towards whom I had great respect and admiration as a professional?

  7. I too would have advised anon(1) the same as "peak day blues" but I have seen instances where the reporting person has become a symbol of mockery.

    "just adjust"

    "don't mind, (wink)"

    "take it easy" (mocking smile)

"He never meant it that way, you have misinterpreted it"

"Do you think you are the beauty peagent"

"Look at her, nobody will ever want to take a look at her, such is her feature. how could a guy have misbehaved to her."

    and what not ...

male dominant society ... only Acts of this kind will at least regulate these kinds of atrocities to some extent.

  8. Anon 1, thanks for asking me to use this medium effectively to curb this. I would suggest you to check out The Blank Noise Project and register your story over there....

I would definitely suggest you to talk with your parents/hubby and see if you can come out in public against this. The reason why such "male dominance" happens in India is because no one reports it

  9. Thank you Peakday blues.

It's long time since it has happened, I am out of the Co. now a year. I am cool. Don't want to dig this up only to give my parents a peace of mind. I amn't married. My parents are not aware of this. if this come to the limelight, my marriage will be another problem ... girls will always face problems if they don't think twice about what they are doing.

    Anyway thanks

    Anon(2)

Thanks you have put it right.

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!! Thanks to this Wikipedia link , forwarded to me by Vinay
