India's Most Powerful!

India Today has come out with the 50 most powerful people in India list in its latest issue. It features the who's who of Indian Industrialists and politicians.

Any guesses as to who is "THE" most powerful person... Well, it's none other than Ratan Tata!

According to India Today, he is the numer uno, for the following reasons:
"Because he has taken India's largest software company TCS public. Because he launched the first Tata truck made in Korea at the Daewoo plant he had bought out in 2003. Because he acquired a steel plant in Singapore and a telecom giant in the US last year. Because he has dared the world and promised to produce a car costing Rs 1 lakh. Because the Rs 65,000 crore Tata empire now straddles 40 countries. Because he is the face the Government has chosen to represent India as the chairman of the Investment Commission. Because he has proved that business cycles are temporary and class is forever."

The top 10 features the likes of Mukesh and Anil Ambani, Bal Thackeray, and the Big B.

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!!
