It's high time we protected Mother Nature!

For sure, I can say that there isn't a single person in this world, who never thought why everyone else do harm to the earth and why they don't care about nature and he or she does. It is not new to anyone and all of us are worried about the changes - for the worst - which nature is undergoing. We all contribute very actively to the destruction of nature.

Let us analyze how we are paving the way to nature’s destruction. We keep taking out its elements, wasting majority of them. We change the mechanisms of nature to make them simpler and cheaper to exploit.

When trees are cut and concrete forests are laid in its place, we are depriving ourselves of rain, oxygen and are also letting the earth susceptible to soil erosion. When we extract ground water through bore wells for industrial and other purposes, we should bear in our mind that it will not be replaced and that its effects can take various forms. The most heinous of one's cruelty to nature is polluting it with wastes. Seas and rivers are polluted by garbage off the land. Discarded plastic has become a potentially dangerous problem of the era. Since the plastic does not break down, the pollution will be with us for the centuries to come.

All harm Mother Nature in one form or another. But we do not know, at what time and which part of nature will stop working as one entity in response to our acts. It will not let us breathe, it will not quench our thirst and it will not keep us full.

If we disrupt anything that works, ignorant of the way it is constructed, we may cause a catastrophe. Let us behave rationally and protect nature for our own sake.

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!! Thanks to this Wikipedia link , forwarded to me by Vinay
