Live Accident!

I was driving back to Coimbatore from Kerala today and was unfortunate enough to see one live accident unfolding in front of me.

A guy in his bike (his kid and wife sitting behind) overtook me in full speed near KG Chavady. A lorry was in front of me, say 500 mts ahead. This guy all in a jiffy tried to overtake the lorry also and hit a poor chap riding a cycle with huge backpacks coming from the opposite direction. The man in the cycle fell near the side of the road and the bike started swirling and went and fell in the middle of the road with a bang. I was just behind and luckily was able to stop with inches sparing them.

The kid was okay and the wife of that man had some minor injuries. The fellow had a cut his hand and blood was oozing from his head. The old man in the cycle was almost half dead.

Luckily police and ambulance facilities were nearby and both of them were rushed to the hospital.

Also, there was a huge accident involving two container lorries near Walayar police station. I heard it happened early morning and the driver and cleaner of both the lorries died on the spot. Those who came back from Kerala today would have noticed it.

PS: Please drive safely and wear a helmet while riding a bike!! Life is precious, if not for you, but for your family!!

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!! Thanks to this Wikipedia link , forwarded to me by Vinay
