More Discounts!!

Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) always prides itself for maintaining a stable pricing regime, despite the high competition in the Indian passenger car market. It’s now becoming more of a habit for the company to latch on to opportunities to offer its products with lower price tags.

First it was the Rs 5-lakh offer on the Accent. There was also the Rs 7-lakh offer for Elantra.

Just about four months ago, HMIL came out with a Celebration Offer for its ‘B’ segment compact car, ‘Santro Xing’, that was made available at Rs 3 lakh. It received an overwhelming response, with dealers across the country registering bookings close to 27,000 units.

That’s history. One can now get a Santro Xing for a little over Rs 2.72 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai). Through this “limited period offer”, the company has started silently pushing into the market a stripped-down version, Santro Xing X, without air-conditioning and power steering.

“We are not pushing it. It always existed as a ‘made to order’ model,” official sources in HMIL said. But at least one Chennai-based dealer has been aggressively pushing this model in the market over the last few days.

“Such a model was always there on order. The present move is to spread the message to people, because the company wants the buyers to know that a lower price-level model too exists in its portfolio,” trade sources observed.

Under the present offer, the on-road price for this ‘Santro Xing X’ works out to Rs 3.03 lakh. Over and above this, the insurance is free, which brings the price down to Rs 2.93 lakh.

PS: What else can you ask for!! A PC for 9,900 and your dream machine below Rs. 3 lakhs! Customer is definitely becoming a king in the Indian market.

Ariyaatha pillakku choriyumbol ariyum!

As a kid/teenager, my only source of information to learn malayalam was Manorama Publications' Balaram, a children's fortnightly and my granny. I still vividly remember how she used to teach me the basics of malayalam whenever I come to Kerala on vacations. My granny was also a great source of amazement for me as she used malaylam proverbs or the so called "pazham chollu" every now and then. These proverbs, though small in length and use, had deep insights! Though I can read/write Malayalam today, thx to Balarama and my granny, I used to miss her proverbs a lot. But not anymore!! Thanks to this Wikipedia link , forwarded to me by Vinay
