Over the past few days I've been noticing a quiet revolution of some "dot com" companies with splashing advertisements during cricket matches, aggressive online ads etc etc.
These "dot com" companies comes from two lucrative sectors of the Indian market - Jobs & Marriages.
A few of the marriage makers that are aggressive in their advertisement and style of operations are shaadi.com, bharatmatrimony.com and the latest in the race jeevansaathi.com.
Jeevansaathi.com has come up with a new TV campaign with a tag line called, "Don't marry the worst mistake of your life, log on to .... "
Shaadi.com and Bharatmatrimony.com has more web presence in that they advertise themselves in almost all of the famous indian dot com news sites.
Coming to the job sites, timesjobs.com is a new entrant, which is part of the Times Group (Times Of India, Economic Times etc.). During the recent Test match between India and Pakistan, this new found glory of websites was very much visible. Every now and then, naukri.com, monster.com, jobsahead.com and timesjobs.com ads will pop up in the screen, irritating you at times. The same is the case with matrimonial websites.
So, what's behind this new found enthusiasm and aggressive marketing? India's cultural value is the highlight for matrimonial sites. Though we've developed leaps and bounds in recent years, we Indians still hold on very strongly to our cultural values. A guy and a girl still gets married in the old fashioned way called arranged marriage.
And the recent sprout in job sites is that the Indian economy is growing at a fast pace and BPO and allied sectors have created plenty of jobs even for an ordinary graduate.
